Free Will? Nope

This piece is mostly about free will, and it started originally as a new forum topic in response to a thread that more or less culminated in the below two posts. I include them both for continuity.

Here is how I am reconciling the free will thing for myself. Jason comment on whether I am off target here.

The concept of free will implies a belief in linear causality. That is ascribing a resultant path to a single choice or decision maker. But what factors affect "your" decision? Well if you think you make an inteligent choice then you have considered many factors and those factors depend on other factors and what you come to is that everything in your universe was a factor in in your choice so all elements or datapoints are entangled and since all things influenced your choice then where is the free will in it?

If you try to trick the system into granting you free will for a choice by attempting to make a random choice then there is no free will there either. Random is just another way to say I will let all the other points dominate in the decision but your decision to attempt random was your part in the decision. The universe is as it is and you play your role in it. Free will is the illusion from the point of view of consciousness attached to the limited concept of a person and personality. That concept of person is so unreliable , it comes and goes several times a day so it cannot be real but it is like the idle task of the computer thinking it is the CPU.

Paul,

I really like the concepts you presented here, but I don't think Jason will agree. I think it's an experiential thing that can't really be explained with 3D language and logic.

Patrick

Actually, Patrick, Paul's pretty dead on metaphorically speaking, and as has been said many times over the years there isn't anything, or any explanation, that isn't a metaphor. Understanding what he's saying was a necessary step for me to becoming enlightened. What he's saying is what I was beginning to understand about ten years ago. And then when I had THE experience I didn't know immediately that enlightenment is what had had happened. I knew I had had the same experience as Jesus and Buddha and all the others because I was well enough versed in things they were saying that all of a sudden I KNEW on every level everything that had ever been said about it. I saw, all in a flash, everything.

When I had the series of four experiences over the course of about six weeks, the last of which was the BIG one, and I've had some BIG realizations since, the one which showed me experientially that THIS mental level is an utter lie is what opened me up enough to know that everybody's got it wrong. What I mean by everybody are all the teachers and pundits and gurus. I knew also that they are functioning perfectly, because what they're saying appeals to and is necessary for their audience as a stepping stone to what I'm saying.

So I was driving around on a beautiful summer day pondering the immensity of what I knew to be True, and while driving I decided that I needed to get this message out. It was too important, too big, all that, and decided that I needed to go to the teachers and teach them because of the size of their audiences. This is all Jesus did. He knew his role was to talk about it.

So I went to Barnes & Noble just to see who was saying what based on titles and covers, and because of that series of four experiences I was open enough to be able to scan about anyone and know where they were. I went to the New Age section, and started sliding books far enough out of the vertical stacks to look at the covers. Standing there, sliding out Braden, Chopra, Katie, Tolle, etc., etc., I was saying "Nope, doesn't get it. Nope, not even close. Nope...oh hell, this one doesn't have a clue (in reference to Chopra)."

And then I came across a book I'd seen about four years before, never bought or read, but recommended to several people. To this day I don't know why I did recommend it other than what I knew to be true from the title (and that, of course, it was scripted). Two of the folks I recommended it to read it and went on to study A Course in Miracles, for which this book is something of a spinoff, and because they'd become quite versed in the ideas, they both KNEW I'd experienced something absolutely profound because all of the indications were there according to what they'd read. I haven't gone through A Course in Miracles because it's not necessary for me, and what I mean by that is that it's very like I wrote it. Nor is it necessary for you, but if you feel compelled to do so, by all means do so.

In the other forum I told members that it was kinda like this: A Course in Miracles is for those who want to get IT in a subsequent embodiment: what I'm doing is for those who want to get IT in this one.

Anyway, the book is called The Disappearance of the Universe. When I slid it out, I said aloud, "THIS one gets it." It was at that moment the BIG ONE started to descend on me, and I took the book with me, paid for it, and ran out of the place. The title says it all. If all we have here are billions, hell, trillions, no, bazillion spatillions, of split consciousnesses (personalities) all believing that "they" exist, even if they DON'T have "bodies" (ghosts, "disembodied" beings, etc. etc.) on our mental plane, then somehow showing them that they don't, and making it experiential, is like harvesting those minds, removing one block of pixels at a time, as it were, yet another "holder-of-the-lie" in apparent form.

Something worth mentioning is that there are "higher" beings out there, disembodied, "powerful," on "heavenly levels," if you will, that also don't have a clue. There are disembodied entities that can traverse dimensions and yet are as clueless as your average neighbor. That might help some of you understand the magnitude of what's going on around here.

The disappearance of the universe itself is precisely what is happening - in fact, it's already happened, but let's not confuse the issue with this now.

So I read it. It was fun, irreverent, sarcastic, and almost dead on, just as precisely dead on as it needed to be. And of course occurrs "spontaneously" in successive Nows from the Infinite like everything else as part of the story. It gave me some language tools and examples to use for explanation, and is only wrong, but deliberately so, on a few points. It's very handy. I recommend it. I also recommend The End of Time by Julian Barbour, The Hole in the Universe by KC Cole, and Zeno's Paradox by Joseph Mazur. In fact, I recommend all these to everyone. I used science and quantum theory to understand IT, and by way of comparison superimposed what I learned from science over ancient teachings, which for my experience are woefully inadequate by comparison (except for those used to illustrate or promote instant Zen, as an example).

So, since we're operating on this mental plane, this is "where" "our" work is done. Now, because of the experience I also came to understand more deeply than ever, and I had suspected this for years, that we have no volition. I'd been teaching that for five years, since the FirstWave days. What I came to understand more deeply than ever, and always in very simplistic terms because what I'm talking about is very simple, is that wanting to have free will is exactly the same thing as feeding an ego, wanting to hang on to "self." The whole question begins and ends on free will. If it's true, then nothing I'm saying is true. If it's not, then everything I'm saying is true.

I knew experientially that there is no causality, no creating, because both of those concepts are negated when you know that you have no volition. If you have no volition, then you are being the concept of causality or creation as it is happening and not by anything you are doing. In other words, causality or creating, that you think you're doing it, is just another way of remaining convinced that you are an individual and is therefore just another way of feeding an ego.

What I also knew to be true for years and years, at least 10 years, and after the experience absolutely balls to bones, is that this is a simulation, a dream, and I thought, "That's all we've been saying for 8 or 10 thousand years or more. All the teachings say it, and always have. What is completely clear, and look at yourself to know this, is that somehow, despite the fact that you've read that this is a dream (often described as illusion), there is some part of you that thinks what is being said is a metaphor, maybe to help you understand something. BUT IT'S NOT A METAPHOR. It's absolutely true. Just accept what "they've" been saying for thousands of years. If you don't believe me, believe them. Taking it from some illustrative metaphor to absolute fact is the only difference in your own understanding. Taking it as fact will serve as the conscious habit of undoing the fiction of you. The natural result will be the sudden piercing (or what I might now call an all-at-once remembrance).

Everything points to it. All the code behind this "reality" points to it, and everything is code. Everything that is happening in science, cinema, books, and on and on, is telling you that this is a dream, or at the very least that it's most definitely not what it appears to be. We've listed some of the movies in another thread, or no, it was actually in an Unteaching document. Look at it, get it: Truth is hanging all around you and you're simply not seeing it. This isn't a problem you have. This is how it's set up. It will seep into your system precisely as it's set up to do, of course, but part and parcel of your getting it is seeing IT bit by bit.

This stuff has been said over and over and over for millennia. All I'm doing is figuring out ways to crack open the modern mind. I understand this deeply, and my understanding deepens on a daily basis, and because of that understanding and the breadth of my experience in science and alchemy and computing and ciphers and code and on and on, I can come up with many different approaches of explaining exactly the same thing. I knew "we" had invented computers as one of the means by which we'd teach ourselves how All This works. With a computer you can create a simulated world. One of the greatest minds in physics today is David Deutsch, who wrote The Fabric of Reality, a very dense book, hard to understand because of its technical language and ideas, etc. He says in no uncertain terms, as many scientists and quantum theorists are now saying and have been for a while, that this is a virtual reality. Quantum physics has been saying it for 100 years. I'm not the only one saying this. Pay attention to what others are saying.

The computing "power" necessary to run this simulation then becomes the only thing worth debating or investigating, and it is. Quantum computers are right around the corner, maybe another 15 years for the most rudimentary of what is to come, and when they come on the scene, a singularity that collapses large portions of The Dream in THIS mental plane is not far behind. There's another book out called The Singularity is Near, by Ray Kurzweil, a "noted futurist." He thinks that the exponential increase of computing power and the inevitable advent of true AI (artificial intelligence) is what will bring about the mass shift in human evolution, which can only be a shift in consciousness since that's all this is. He's not a new ager, or spiritual, and I don't know whether or not he gives a damn about 2012. He's just an observer of what is true and is an information scientist.

So, as always, I'm going to hammer away on your noggin. I'm not the only one saying it, but the way I'm saying it doesn't require volumes of information. It's very simple, but to get to that simplicity is by slicing through, or unraveling, massive complexity. The only complexity we're dealing with is the lie itself. We all know that once a liar begins lying, the complexity of the "construct," the "web weaved," becomes exponentially more complex as lie upon lie is built. Then, at a certain point, the liar begins believing the lies, so much so that he or she can no longer discern between what are lies and what aren't. This is a metaphor of what we see as reality.

That this is a simulation means that it's like a video game, and it is more like that than anything else because we are playing a game. But the game is programmed to function in very specific ways, and so when in The Lord of the Rings video game the wizard Gandolf is holding his staff aloft and commanding that the evil dragon shall not pass, and lightning bolts are striking out from the staff with incredible wizard power, do you really think that's power? Or is it just programmed perception on the part of the two characters? Gandolf's NOT the primary character here. The more crucial character for the perception of power is the dragon. Without the dragon in the scene, THERE IS NO POWER. The presence of the dragon = the presence of power, and not just the presence of it but the need to display it. And not only is there no power in and of itself without an apparent perceiver to play the role of acknowledging that it's there, there's no perception. Is the simulation known as Gandolf perceiving the dragon, and vice versa? No, they're cooperating as apparently individualized forms in the CONCEPT of perception, and nothing more.

Now, because of our limited computing power at present in the flow of this mental evolution, we can't endow those video game characters with anything but a few hundred programming parameters, or if this then that statements (which we'll cover at length, and as simply as possible, when I get to a document describing what The Script actually is). When quantum computing hits its stride and the computing cycles reach near infinite capability, it's not inconceivable that we'll have characters in video games who become "self-aware." So, let's project ourselves forward 40 or 50 years and we now have quantum computers that are using thulium atoms in a chip the size of a sesame seed as a CPU and condensed vapor contained within a diamond-like crystal for storage. Because of the computing power, one day a video game character actually "wakes up" and begins to wonder about things, and soon realizes that he's in a video game. He then begins to think, "Well, now that I know that, I can do with it what I want. I'll show those programmers who's boss."

And then, after making this realization and feeling pretty smug about it, he gets shot at by a sniper with an electropulse rifle and a monster or two arise from the street and chase him. And he's thinking, while running, ducking, juking and thrashing and flailing, "Why can't I stop this? This has to stop long enough for me to figure out how to stop it!" He winds up in a field where it seems pretty quiet, and still convinced that his eyes are real, he begins looking for something. In effect, he's trying to see OUT of the video monitor, but this is it. His world, the world according to his senses, is all there is. You can see him on the monitor, but he can't see you. So, in frustration, he gives up. When the monster arises, he laughs at it and says "Do your worst, knave!" And the monster plunges a large knife through his chest, and he "dies." Game Over appears on the screen. A second later, the game's reset, and the same character's in the same street in the process of self-aware yet again.

Moving along. So, I thought, OK, then because this is nothing but an amazing story - if we have no impact on anything, nothing we do matters or changes a thing any more than the events of the video game, then the only reason we do anything at all is for posterity, for the record, for the sake of the story, and this is incontrovertibly true, then what about 2012? I knew that it also is just part of the story, that our virtual solar system was programmed to rotate around the core of a virtual galaxy, itself rotating around something else within superclusters of galaxies, all of which are virtual and a part of an amazingly vast story.

So I called Sandi and basically commanded the following, without giving her any warning whatsoever that I was doing it, hoping to be as free of any of her limitations as I possibly could. I said, "I want to speak directly to the Infinite Mind, setting Sandi completely aside in this communication. It is done!" I then said, "I know the upcoming events of 2012, like everything else, are just a story, but I also know there are workings behind the apparent scenery of this story. Laying the story aside and looking at the truer underlying plan, why does 2012 seem to be an opportunity?"

Sandi said, very mechanically I might add, "I'm seeing a pear. The pear is ripe. The answer to your question is the period in the story in which you find yourself interacting is designed to be ripe for the harvesting of minds so that false personalities can be reminded of One."

What I mean by "underlying plan" is explained this way: remember, all mental levels overlap, or are nested within, all other mental levels. So, while we "see" an upcoming event in 2012 that is supposed to be momentous and Earth-shaking and paradigm-shattering, on a more primary mental level it's merely a minor blip on the radar. From that more primary perspective it's just a crowd of "gods and goddesses" sitting around picking their teeth and waiting for "humanity" to come along and remember a more natural way of subsisting in that rather insignificant level they're scurrying around on.

Of course I understood that what was being said was in effect agreeing with the idea of the disappearance of the universe since it's held in apparent form by personalities. It's like our liar beginning a process of unraveling the incredible complexity of his lies. How does he do that when he now can't even discern what is lie and what is not. So, instead of the necessity of hitting the rewind button, there are characters in the game that occur from invisibility, right on schedule and according to what is needed by the Whole Game, to give tools that basically say, "It's ALL a lie, so just know that and use these tools to erase all of the stuff you're not actually conscious of and make a conscious habit of disbelieving the lie as your daily routine. All of the lies regarding yourself that you ARE conscious of, guilt, shame, fear...and their apparent sources, just accept them, which is the same thing as letting them go. Use Alkhem to help you with all this. It's all good. Just chill.

Because the most fundamental presence within each and every dreampixel, the Infinite Mind, the intelligence within the smallest constituent making up everything, had picked a time for me to ask that question and delivered the answer in just the way that it did, the simplicity was once again so striking it nearly bowled me over. Before I get to that, those of you who have studied Ascended Master stuff know about the Presence of which I speak. It's like an omniscient and all-pervasive technical support that exists within every dreampixel. A lot of people refer to it as God. The Ascended Master stuff refers to it as the "I AM Presence," and sometimes "The Magic Presence."

So, the simplicity with which I was bowled over boils down to this: If we have the disappearance of the universe on the one hand, then we have the continuance of the universe on the other. If the universe continues, it's because those who think they're people want it to. If the universe disappears it's because those who think they're people have realized they're nothing. When the number of sentient role-players realize they're nothing reaches a critical mass, the result is that the lie dissolves and leaves nothing, which is what the new agers would refer to as returning to source. It's not that at all. It's becoming nothing. And so, as has been asked in various ways: "Do you prefer something or do you prefer nothing?" The annihilation of not just you, the small identity reading this document, but also the annihilation of perception (self-awareness) itself is something that on the deepest levels no"body" truly wants to face.

Most people who are open and semi-awake think that they get to be who they are right now AND return to source. Not so. You don't get to stay what you are right now AND remember what you truly are, because the local and limiting memory itself is what makes you what you are. That's why the process is so daunting and frightening. So, you have but to ask yourself one question: do you want total annihilation of identity (self-awareness)? Or do you want to play this game no matter what the game brings your way? That the game exists and that you're playing it should be all the answer you require; otherwise it wouldn't be happening as it is. Just know that what is happening according to your senses and on this mental level is NOT what is truly happening, which might relieve some of the sting for you.

I'll be using more documents to illustrate this further and further and further until those of you who understand what I'm saying begin to see that your script in it calls for you to play the role of "someone" who "wakes" in the simulation and begins to understand that the volition of the Whole is going to use you to push the belief of "everybody" else to ever-expanding limits, to the point where belief itself must be dispensed with, as a means by which "liars" become Truth. It's just part of the story. Once belief is out of the way, we can get on with the business of Knowing.

I wrote this post this morning over a couple of hours, left it to read later, and then found out some things today that were some of the largest information I've yet encountered. It will take me some time to process it and understand it better. I'm not being cryptic or trying to keep you on the edge of your seats. Just giving notice that The Blue Emerald is beginning to disclose its secrets.
